Question: Who is Representative #1?

Talking points memo has posted the full plea deal from the Abramoff case. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/...

My question is who is Representative #1?

Starting a PAC

Mon Nov 08, 2004 at 01:46:37 PM PDT

My friends and I have been pretty disgusted and distraught over the BushCo victory. None of us expected democracy to fail. We didn't realize how far America has fallen, and how much Incompetance is rewarded in America these days. I guess in the age of Jessica Simpson/Paris Hilton celebrity we shouldn't have been suprised... Stupidity is expected and mediocrity is as much as we should aspire to....

Zogby's final call

Tue Nov 02, 2004 at 02:23:15 PM PDT

Kerry 311 Bush 213.

NV and CO too close to call. This seems about right to me. Nice of him to wait until two hours before the freaking polls close.

Here is hoping he is right. It's time to start the celebration.

I as of yet have not seen one reason that we have anything to worry about. AM I being over cocky or realistic?

Sending the message in Florida

Mon Nov 01, 2004 at 03:23:14 PM PDT

I've come down to Florida to visit some friends and try to help Kerry get elected. We wanted to counter some of the BushCo fanatics out here on the FL panhandle, so we're making some signs. We've got what I think are a couple good ones, but I thought I'd throw a chance out here to help with some good "get out and vote kerry" signs.

Bush and the Cuban Vote

I'm no expert on Cuban-American issues, but it seemed to me last night that Bush just lost the Cuban vote and possibly Florida with it. We can only hope...

The 87 Billion Dollar Answer

Wed Oct 06, 2004 at 11:38:27 AM PDT

"They voted for the war, but then voted against the funding...blahblahblah" Is it just me or is it ridiculous at this point that Kerry and Edwards can't smack this bullshit down? Maybe it is me, maybe I've got it wrong, but it seems to me that the answer is this simple:
"I voted for the bill that would have paid for itself, I voted against the bill that just added the debt to our growing deficit."

John Edwards: Who is he?

Tue Sep 21, 2004 at 09:19:08 AM PDT

A cousin of mine has to write a paper on John Edwards, and she's come asking me since I'm one of the only intelligent (read: Democrat) members of the family. It's supposed to be unbiased. I was hoping to help her with more than son of a mill worker bio type stuff... and I figure this is the place to ask. Who is John Edwards and what does he stand for? Thanks for the help.

Discrimination against smokers

Wed Sep 08, 2004 at 01:12:24 PM PDT

It seems to me that in our modern society discrimination is heavily frowned upon, unless it's against smokers. Sure Sure it's bad for me, but I've always preferred the "My body, my choice" attitude. As the dangers of second hand smoke became apparent, and in my mind extremely hyped, smokers have been further and further marganalized. And in many ways it's not such a bad thing.

Destroying Babylon

Thu Jun 24, 2004 at 08:18:51 AM PDT

There was a report this morning on NPR about the ancient ruins of Babylon and Camp Alpha, the army base that has been built on top of it. To say the least I'm frustrated and disappointed. This is one of the oldest cities in the world, the cradle of our damn civilization... and we're bulldozing helicopter pads and filling sand bags... this is above and beyond allowing the looting that we did, this is like pissing on the grave of humanity.

My Beef with the USDA

Thu Apr 29, 2004 at 08:53:34 AM PDT

I heard a report on NPR the other day talking about a beef co-op that raised premium beef cattle, mostly for sale in Japan. Of course since the whole Mad-Cow Disease scare, Japan won't import American beef. While Americans have long since forgotten the problem, Japan hasn't. So this co-op, and Creekstone Farms, another company before them, want to test every single one of thier cattle to prove they're Mad-Cow-Free. Great idea some would say, but then they probably don't know that it's somehow illegal.

George's faulty logic

Thu Apr 22, 2004 at 08:39:08 AM PDT

Why does George W. hate facts?

Why does George W. hate common sense?

I'm oftentimes asked, is there a solution for the war on terror? Yes, there's a long-term solution, and that's freedom. See, free societies don't promote terror. Free societies are peaceful societies. Free societies are societies that provide hope and opportunity for people.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/04/20040421-5.html

That'd be fine logic... if it made any fucking sense at all.

Letting Sleeping Dogs Lie

Tue Apr 20, 2004 at 10:05:08 AM PDT

"At 4:30 a.m. Tenet called the Situation Room and told the duty officer, 'Tell the president we got the son of a bitch'." Bush was not awakened, however, and by the time he got to the Oval Office that morning, it appeared that Saddam was still alive.

There have been many revelations from the Woodward book, but as I read this article yesterday it was this section that disturbed me most.

Corpses on the Cover

Thu Apr 01, 2004 at 11:41:56 AM PDT

I get to work this morning, look at the front page of the Baltimore Sun, and I see dead people. They don't look like Bruce Willis. Instead I'm looking at a full color picture with two charred unrecoganizable dismembered corpses hanging from a bridge.
